An eagle-owl (Bruno Liljefors)

Bruno Liljefors, An eagle-owl, 1905. Bruno Liljefors (Swedish 1860–1939) was a Swedish artist, a lifelong hunter, and a pioneer in wildlife painting. Being a hunter, he often painted predator-prey action, but here we suddenly find ourselves looking into the eyes of a single unmoving bird, an eagle-owl. What was Liljefors thinking? This is the question that I come to think of: What is it that make wild creatures so wild...?
