Botticelli, Idealized portrait Simonetta Vespucci

Designs inspired by a beautiful painting by Sandro Botticelli, (Idealized portrait of a lady, circa 1480). The lady may be the famous beauty Simonetta Vespucci, also the alleged model for The birth of Venus, Botticelli's perhaps most famous artwork. The contemporary Florentine poet Politian wrote that her home was "in that stern Ligurian district up above the seacoast, where angry Neptune beats against the rocks ... There, like Venus, she was born among the waves."
