Lucy Mission Dinkinesh Binary Asteroid

NASA’s Lucy asteroid mission flew by its first asteroid and was surprised to find it has a little moon in a binary pair. The asteroid is named Dinkinesh, which means “marvelous” in the Amharic language. Nicknamed “dinky”, the larger asteroid id about half a mile or 790 meters wide and the smaller moon is 220 meters. Lucy’s main mission is to reach the Jupiter Trajan asteroids in 2027.
