Medieval and Renaissance Tomb Portraits

Metal and stone tomb memorials including a portrait of the owner were very popular in Britain in the Middles Ages and later, and many of them still survive, offering a window into Medieval society and fashion. Making rubbings of these portraits was very popular in the 19th century, and were used as artwork in the home.
