After World War II, the 50s ushered in a vibrant and wholesome era characterized by malt shops, sock hops, beatniks, hot cars, and cool jazz. Elvis was the reigning king of Rock ‘n Roll. Dick Clark and “American Bandstand” introduced the coolest dances with the newest music while we watched James Dean at the drive-in movies. “Father Knows Best” and “I Love Lucy” were two shows on our “must see TV” list. Because it was such a time of cultural changes and great conflict, the 1950s is a cool option for a decade theme party.
