St. Teresa of Avila COLLECTION (SNV 27)

St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) was a Spanish noblewoman who grew from a shallow, materialistic, and worldly teenager into a spiritual writer and mystic of great depth. Although prone to bouts of illness during which she gained insight into the power of mental prayer, nevertheless she was a physical force of nature. With St. John of the Cross, she reformed the Carmelite Order founding some 16 or 17 new establishments throughout Spain.
