William Morris: The Kennet Pattern

The English designer William Morris (1834-1896) created the popular "Kennet" pattern -- named after a river in the south of England that flows into the Thames -- in 1883. This elegant, understated blue, green and gold rendition comes from a length of plain weave cotton printed in the "Kennet" design by William Morris (1834-1896), now in the collection of the Cleveland Institute of Art (https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1937.698).
