Our Lady Guadalupe refers to when the Virgin Mary— the mother of Jesus and a very important saint in the Roman Catholic religious tradition—appeared to a man named Juan Diego in Mexico in 1531. She holds a special place in the culture and religious life of many Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Our Lady of Guadalupe O God, You have been pleased to bestow upon us unceasing favours by having placed us under the special protection of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. Grant us, your humble servants, who rejoice in honouring her today upon earth, the happiness of seeing her face to face in heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
