St. Nikephoros the Leper Orthodox Christian Icon Legpuzzel

St. Nikephoros was born in the very late 19th century and lived in Greece. When he was a teenager, he developed leprosy. As the illness ravaged his eyes and body, he arrived at the home for lepers in Chios that was administered by a priest. Within two years, the priest saw that Nicholas was firmly dedicated to the Lord so he tonsured him a monk with the name Nikephoros. Although his illness progressed, he continued his obedience, fasting and working in the gardens. He was the lead chanter in church until leprosy destroyed his vision. When the home closed in the 1950s, he moved to another one for lepers within Greece. When the illness caused him to be bedridden and blind, people visited him for his blessings. Despite his ravaging illness, St. Nikephoros would ask his visitors if they prayed and continuously urged them to pray. PLEASE NOTE: Most of the icons are very old.
