"Oh Fishes!"

Adam Less has been creating strip, single panel and themed cartoon series for over twenty-five years. In 1978 Less created his first strip cartoon, Noodles while living in London, England. After moving to Canada in the early 1980's Less switched his interests to single panel work before returning to series style cartoons in 1993 with the introduction of Manimals. His unusual and bizarre sense of humor have always been a trademark of his work, with understated illustrations often depicting outrageous situations. Oh Fishes! is Less's latest creation. Outrageous as always the idea sprung from the most innocent of sources. "I was introduced to the phrase 'Oh fishes!' by my daughter. At the time I thought what a strange thing to say in reaction to something bad happening. As I thought about it more I couldn't help thinking how inappropriately understated the comment would be in the face of a really horrible event. The idea seemed funny to me so off to the drawing board I went." Less explains. He admits the illustrations in 'Oh Fishes!" are a bit grotesque. "I've always played with shock value in my work and yes, I admit I do have a bit of a sick side. I like to think my cartoons are the type of things people find funny but never admit to, to anyone else." Less has twenty illustrations, some of which have been introduced exclusively for sale on this site.
