I spent years living life at the end of a rope. Whether I was working as a tree surgeon or hanging off structures in rope access, my world was defined by knots. In those industries, a knot is a lifeline—it’s the difference between a good day and a very bad one. But while my hands were busy with chainsaws and carabiners, my head was always somewhere else: in the world of design. I realized that "qualification" is a funny thing. I was highly qualified to dangle 100 feet in the air, but I felt like a total amateur when it came to art. I decided to lean into that. I traded the climbing harness for a digital canvas to explore a side of me that didn't require a certification—just a bit of grit and a lot of imagination. Knot Qualified is the result of that transition. It’s a brand for the outsiders, the career-switchers, and the people who are "untethering" themselves from expectations to try something new. Today, I run things from the ground (mostly), with my chief supervisor—my cat, Raz—keeping me in check. We’re trading technical hitches for graphic tees, proving that you don’t need a permit to be creative. We might be Knot Qualified, but we’re exactly where we need to be.
