When you're a middle child born into a family of 10 you kind of exist in an invisible terrain. You find your own way of dealing with that anonymity. And for me it was daydreaming. If we got bored my mother said, "Use your imagination. That's what it's there for." And she was right. I guess you could say photography and writing run in my family. My niece has her photographs in "Kindred Spirits" Design on Zazzle. It is from her I got the idea to start this store. Nature seems to be the thing that inspires us, and our connections with others is as fundamental as breathing. This store is an outgrowth of my photographs, oil paintings and writing. I seek to capture the miracle in the details, and the extraordinary in the every day. Most of my life I have taken care of cats and dogs in the middle of the night, taught science, and raised 3 sons, 2 of them identical twins. One of my twins passed away unexpectedly, and I had to chose whether to go on. The easiest thing would be to give up. But I have poured out my grief in poetry and painting. And somewhat to my surprise, life continues to amaze and inspire me. In the midst of these painful and worrisome times I find the need to turn off the television and listen to the wind in the trees. Watch the sun reflect off the water's surface, get out my camera, and my pen and paper. Capture the interface of light and shadow. The picture tells its own story.
