Designer, Shelsea, grew up around dogs of all sizes. Her last two rescue pups were small breeds, a Miniature Pinscher "Min Pin" named Joey and Chihuahua mix named Bugzy (after Bugz Bunny, found him on Easter Day 2009). She and her two young children brought home, Koa, their first AKC purebred working line full-black German Shepherd at 10 weeks old in June 2022. He's been non-stop work ever since due to his dog-reactivity & anxiety (mostly genetics, similar behaviors w his litter mates). While continuing to work with professional trainers, Shelsea has had to constantly advocate for Koa's space while being aware of multiple other dog's at any given moment as she tries her best to care for her 5yo daughter while constantly managing and monitoring her 10 yr olds chronic autoimmune Type 1 diabetes 24/7/365 (see T1dLife store in her profile, read About section or visit her infoblog at Typeonediabetic-life.com). Sometimes she's too preoccupied multi-tasking to “be nice” when asking others, “Do NOT pet him." Her family also fostered then officially adopted Saber, white Alaskan Husky - total opposite of Koa, in Dec 2024. To say they’re busier than most folks even those who have young children without any chronic medical conditions is major understatement. It doesn’t stop her from advocating and spreading awareness through many creative outlets. Her educational and occupational experiences include The Art Institute, working in the LA Fashion District, and surface print design for a local HI swimwear company.
