I love stick figures because I think it is magical how a few lines can express our feelings so accurately. Sometimes words are not enough, or not needed. I love them because they laugh in the face of language barriers. Stick figures talk to everyone around the world, jumping over any cultural difference we perceive as a wall. I love them because they can be gender neutral, erasing color codes, dress codes and behavioral stereotypes. I believe that stick figures are an art form that is underutilized. Everybody (including me) has used emoticons for different types of emphasis. Stick figures are the full body version of the emoticon, and evoke strong feelings too. I have been drawing them for decades, also using them in journaling or when words are not enough to quickly show what I mean. I call them Fig, a short sweet name for one who doesn't believe words are always needed to share their truths. I hope you enjoy them, and maybe start using them in your life!
