Over mij

In a storm of creativity and getting into the internet art scene, I was surprised to see how full of life the community was because until then I only thought of it as a bunch of narcissistic head tilting assholes taking badly framed selfies. One movement that I particularly liked was that of glitché and vaporwave. That crisp, cyberpunk neon tinted blur imitating those 1980s Bacardi commercials really dragged me in. The deliberate downgrade was quite refreshing in this HD era. It threw me back to an old VHS tape my family had when I was a kid. My dad had recorded John Carpenter's The Thing in the mid 80s, and with that he had frozen in time the ad breaks that came with it. Bacardi Bezique, Mattesons sausages, race days at Snetterton. These were all iconic images and brands that barely had a name these days (Bezique no longer exists, of course Bacardi is going strong). I was 3 years old when the 80s ended, but I took 2 influences from it. The dystopian vision of the future and that unmistakable visual style.
